Welcome to Teach London South East
Teach London South East is delighted to be working in partnership with Tes Institute to deliver initial teacher training (ITT) through its Department for Education (DFE) accredited programme.
The programme provides a blend of online learning and in-school experience which leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) amd am option to combine the teacher training with a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).
We offer Initial Teacher Training Courses in the South East as a Lead Partner with accredited ITT provider Tes Institute. Together we proudly offer high levels of support to all of our trainees and placement schools.

Tes Institute's ITT programmes will allow you to:

- Be part of a network of partnership schools where you can work with other phase and subject specialist trainee teachers

- 100% of 2024-2025 cohort achieved their QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)

- Partnership Lead who has taught in both primary and secondary settings in the UK and Internationally, has been a primary headteacher and is an experienced facilitator

Roles and Responsibilities:
Tes Institute: the accredited ITT provider - has full and final accountability for all aspects of training design, delivery, and quality across the partnership;
Teach London South East: the lead partner - has an operational or strategic role with responsibilities delegated to them by the accredited ITT provider, such as trainee recruitment, delivering training, involvement in ITT curriculum design, supplying lead mentors/mentor leadership teams, or running Intensive Training and Practice;
Placement School(s) - provide placements and general mentors.
Decisions, offers, feedback, and deferrals
We are committed to ensuring:
-providing timely responses to applications.
-every applicant has time to attend interviews for other courses with other providers, and to consider the outcomes of other applications before accepting or declining offers with us.
-applicants are given a deadline to meet any offer conditions that have been set.
-applicants that apply and are interviewed at different times through the recruitment period, should be given the same amount of time to meet the same conditions, where possible.
-if an application is rejected, feedback should explain the reason(s) why to the applicant, including advice on how the application can be improved.

Our Initial Teacher Training (ITT) course is a school-centred ITT route leading to qualified teacher status (QTS), with the option to add a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). The PGCE is validated and awarded by the University of East London (UEL), our partner university.
Our ITT course will help you to:

Develop research-based teaching and learning practice to use in the classroom

Gain knowledge of different school contexts through practical experience in the classroom

Develop the ability to reflect critically and think on your feet

Gain knowledge and develop skills of effective teaching and learning by following our curriculum which embeds the DfE’s ITT Core Content Framework
The course will help you to gain research-informed, knowledge and understanding of teaching and learning, with opportunities to practice in the classroom and develop your teaching skills, coached by well-trained, expert colleagues.
The Programme is flexible and we offer Full-time and Part-time.

With a balanced approach to practical teaching and theory, you will gain the skills to become a reflective and forward thinking practitioner and ultimately an effective teacher. We offer a fantastic opportunity to learn alongside truly inspirational teachers in London, in exciting and diverse learning environments. From the start of the year, the programme allows you to quickly become immersed in school life and be part of the Teach London South East Community. We aim to offer a superb pathway into career development with on-going support.
Our partnership includes several schools mainly based in Orpington, many of which are schools belonging to the Inicio EducationalTrust, with The Highway Primary School as the lead school. You will train in a main school and then have an additional, contrasting placement to give you a rounded programme. We have a focussed programme of training sessions which are led by experts from across our partnership schools. Each Trainee is supported by an in school mentor as well as Tes pathway tutors; these highly experienced teachers will guide and focus you throughout the programme and beyond.
